Found along forest edges and in wooded cultivation and gardens; mainly coastal lowlands, inland to 600 m elevation. 8 cm. Indonesian endemic: fairly common resident on Java, Bali and smaller nearby islands; uncommon in Lombok, Kalimantan, and se Sumatra.

Originates from open coastal woodlands and mangroves, but has readily taken to disturbed habitats, including cultivated areas, villages and gardens. 15 cm. range: Oriental region: widespread and common resident in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Java and Bali.

Found near freshwater lakes and marshes, as well as tidal estuaries, brackish wetlands and mangroves; occasionally seen on exposed coastal areas and offshore islands. 60 cm. Range: Australasia:resident and fairly communion Wallace and Papua; vagrant in east Java.

Also known as Striated Warbler, Striated Marsh Warbler and Striated Canegrass Warbler. Found in grasslands, rice fields, open marshland, wet grassland and open country. Range: Three subspecies; subspecies palustris found in Java and Bali.

Mainly a coastal species found in dry, open woodlands, often near the beach; also seen in cultivated areas, casuarinas and further inland along forest edges. 18 cm. Range: southeast Asia and Australasia into southern Australia; local, common resident throughout Indonesia.

Found in open country with scattered bushes and trees, seen in gardens and cultivated areas, often near rural villages. 20 cm. Range: widespread and common in Java and Bali, introduced on Sumatra and south Sulawesi.

Found wherever water is nearby, from tidal mudflats and sandy shores, to inland reservoirs and rivers. 20 cm. Breeds in northern and central Eurasia; winters south to Australia, common, widespread migrant, mainly from August to April, throughout Indonesia.
