14-16 cm. Native of Europe, N. Africa and Middle East, introduced into Australia from 1860s, spread to Tasmania in 1940s. Range SE Australia, se tip of SA, all Victoria and Tasmania and se NSW. Found in farmland, weedy wastelands, coastal dunes, swamp-woodlands, roadsides, orchards, parks; favours introduced trees.

Also known as Dozey, Stump, Tasmanian or Sleepy Robin. 16-17 cm. Endemic to Tasmania. Found in rainforest margins, tracks, up to 1200 m, open forests/woodlands, scrubs, newly cleared areas, regrowth, country gardens.

NOTE:      Two subspecies:
vittata:       Tasmania
kingii:        King Island

Also known as Cocktail, Fieldwork, Reedlark and Sandplain-wren. 12.5-14 cm. Range along coastal se Australia from nw of Sydney to Lake Alexandria in SA; also across Tasmania. Found in low shrubs, tussocks, swamp-fringes, salt marshes; alpine, coastal heaths; dune vegetation.
